“The Truth Will Set You Free”

                                                Jesus Christ

Robert Westman was a 23-year-old man who wished he was a woman.  When he was 17, his mother helped him legally change his name to Robin so he could pretend he was a girl.  By the time he was 23, he was so disturbed and so filled with rage that on a beautiful August morning he drove to Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis where the young students were starting their school day at Mass. He was armed with several guns and opened fire on the worshippers.  He murdered an 8-year-old boy and a 10-year-old girl and wounded 15 other children and 3 adults.  After raining his carnage down on the innocents, he turned a gun on himself and died.

It will be a long time, if ever, before we know all of what was in the extensive writing he left behind. We’ve heard enough to know he was deeply tormented and filled with rage.  He was obsessed with school shooters and he spewed hate at many individuals and groups. At one point he pleaded, “FIND ME I AM BEGGING FOR HELP, I AM SCREAMING FOR HELP.” Some of his writing reflected the terrible internal agony that had been fueled by all of the adults in his orbit who lied to him by telling him he could change his gender.  “I regret being trans…I wish I was a girl.  I just know I cannot achieve that body with the technology we have today. I also can’t afford that.” He went on to say he wished “I never brainwashed myself” and said he kept his hair long “because it is pretty much my last shred of being trans”. “I can’t cut my hair now as it would be an embarrassing defeat and might be a concerning change of character that could get me reported. I will probably chop it on the day of the attack.”  “I know I am not a woman but I definitely don’t feel like a man.”

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey chastised the mourners gathered in the aftermath, “Don’t let anyone tell you it’s not about guns because it is.” That was a lie. It’s about truth. Frey added he had heard about “a whole lot of hate being directed at our trans community”. Another lie. We do not have a trans “community”.  People afflicted with a mental disorder are not a community. We will never hear references to “our schizophrenic community”.

A lot of people will be coming out of the woodwork to use the attack in Minneapolis as an opportunity to advance their own agendas. This is not a time to jockey for political advantage. We can choose to make it the time we seriously come to grips with the enormity of our societal decline, and begin reversing the evil that is making generations of young Americans mentally sick.  We have turned our backs on the truth in so many facets of our lives that young people have no foundation upon which to build. We lie to them about many things. We tell them there is “your truth” and “my truth”.  We cover for their academic failures by changing how we grade. We give them trophies for doing nothing.  We tell them if it feels good, do it.  We tell them they should expect to live in perpetual bliss and deprive them of the struggles necessary to build the resilience they need to become confident and capable. We deny the importance of a mother and father in a strong nuclear family. We tell them they can choose their gender or choose to be no gender at all. The result: we are producing vast numbers of young Americans who are lost, broken, angry, confused, depressed, and anxious. This is no way to live.

We must not bury Robert Westman’s “transgenderism” as we process his horrific attack, not because most individuals who want to change their gender are likely to become murderers, but because telling people it’s possible to change their gender is the single most evil and treacherous manifestation of how far we have come in shunning truth.  Lying is never kind or compassionate. Joy and inner peace are inaccessible without truth.

The mission of the medical establishment is righteous, but some who gravitate to its work are not. There is no doubt that many within the health professions fully understand that trying to change gender is wrong and an evil lie.  Their silence is their failure.

History teaches the sobering lesson that goodness can never be assumed. Trust is earned.

Dr. Josef Mengele was a highly trained physician who was part of Hitler’s regime.  He became known as the Angel of Death for the suffering he inflicted. He had the full cooperation of respected German scientific institutions while he performed horrific experiments on Jewish victims of the Holocaust.

The United States Public Health Service betrayed the American people by conducting a 40-year experiment known as the “Tuskegee Study”. This is not ancient history; it ended in 1972. The goal was to observe the natural course of untreated syphilis in Black men. The victims of this vile experiment had no idea what was happening to them.

Medical experimentation with changing gender is as evil as the crimes of Mengele and the Public Health Service.  Its perpetuators should be expelled from the medical community.

Parents of troubled children are vulnerable and often desperate in their search for answers. Robert Westman’s mom was undoubtedly trying to help him when she fell prey to the transgender lie.  Lacking in her own confidence about the right thing to do, she unwittingly walked with her son down the path to his destruction.

There are no “mental health experts”. There are merely practitioners of the specialty who collectively develop the consensus opinions they use to “treat” those who suffer from mental disorders. The field is devoid of absolute truths.  There is no mental health equivalent to 2+2=4. While mental health providers prescribe more and more drugs and other interventions to an astoundingly large percentage of the population, some as young as 3 years old, we just keep getting sicker and sicker.

The lies being told within the medical establishment are no different than the lies we hear every day from the government, politicians, the media, institutions, associations, corporations, our colleagues, our neighbors and ourselves.  The betrayal of health professionals stings a little more than some because their trustworthiness should be a given.

John Adams famously proclaimed that “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people.” We are no longer a moral and religious people. Jesus Christ illuminated the way out of the wilderness when he said those who hold to his teaching will know the truth and “The truth will set you free”.

Our societal descent has been rapid and deep.  Time will tell whether we have seen enough to make the serious changes that will guide us back from the brink.  We have the power if we choose to use it.  We can recommit to truth as a cornerstone of a good life.  We can choose to speak the truth and we can insist on the truth from others.  If we continue down the path we are on, it is certain to destroy us.
