An Open Letter to Tom Tiffany from a Conservative Wisconsin Voter

Dear Tom,

I received another fund-raising letter from your campaign a few days ago. It is obvious you are using the same campaign consultants who have been helping Republicans lose elections for years. They are seriously out of touch with conservative Wisconsin voters, and, despite their poor performance, there appears to be no shortage of work for them. One letter I received included a message from you urging voters to email you with their ideas and concerns. I did but was not surprised when I received no response or acknowledgement that I had reached out to you. The latest letter contains no such invitation, making me wonder if the campaign did not like what voters were telling them. I would be surprised if you are even aware of any of the feedback you received. This open letter is another attempt to reach you before it is too late.

I have no money to give you for the ad campaigns that will almost certainly be part of a predictably nasty war of words lacking substance and filled with lies and distortions from both sides. The campaigns will waste millions of dollars and leave the voters disgusted and counting the days until the election will put an end to them. I do have a gift for you that is far more valuable than any donation I could make. It is the truth about what conservative voters are earnestly looking for in candidates they will be able to enthusiastically support rather than merely tolerate.

It is no mystery why Donald Trump was resoundingly elected to a second term as President of the United States. He is an authentic leader. He told the American people exactly what he was going to do, and it was exactly what most of us wanted. He gave us the specifics of his game plan, providing crucial details about how he would achieve his ambitious goals. We learned about tariffs, downsizing government, reshoring manufacturing, energy production, border control, deregulation, and the countless ways Trump would use carrots and sticks domestically and abroad to make “America First” more than just a campaign slogan. He gave us substance to evaluate and we believed him. We knew from experience Trump does what he says he is going to do.

Tom, we need an authentic leader for Governor. Trump is not just someone with coattails to ride on. He is someone to learn from.

Wisconsin voters, like Americans all across the country, are in a fight for our freedom. Trump’s leadership has exposed government corruption and dysfunction beyond what we could have imagined. The corrupt political parties, the dishonest media, and career politicians are all part of the problem, and we intend to take our country back. It will be a serious mistake for you to listen to the political consultants and Party elites. They could not be further out of touch with we the people.

The Path to Authenticity

The campaign being run on your behalf is seriously missing the mark. There is still time for you to course correct and demonstrate the authentic leadership we crave. Key changes have the potential to earn you the all-in support of conservative voters rather than reluctant acceptance that you are all we’ve got.

We must have strong, unwavering leadership in the fight to secure verifiability in our elections. We are up against liars who will look you square in the eye and tell you black is white. Addressing the susceptibility of our elections to cheating must be a top priority in your pursuit of the Governorship, as it is for President Trump. If Wisconsin voters cannot verify that the election results accurately reflect the will of the people, nothing else we do will matter. This is foundational. It is inconceivable that you are not fully informed of the problems with our election system. On the chance that this is the case, I have included a link to a recent report I published on the issue for your reference. https://www.beglingerforwisconsin.com/so/1aPmRbUjA?languageTag=en

Blaming everything that is wrong in Wisconsin on Governor Tony Evers is falling flat. Republicans held the majorities in both legislative houses from 2011 until now. They also held the Governorship for 8 of those years. Taxes, government spending, and failing education systems are things you call “Madison madness.” We are with you on the need for change but laying it all at the feet of Evers while giving the Republicans a pass is an insult to critically thinking citizens. Take a lesson from Donald Trump. He calls out the bad actors irrespective of Party and the people love him for it.

The “solemn promises” you make to the voters are just meaningless political rhetoric without any specifics about how you will accomplish your hefty agenda. Lower property taxes, banning sanctuary cities, ending woke insanity, protecting farmland, reducing income taxes, bringing down energy costs, and more money in our pockets are all things we have heard many times before. How exactly are you going to do this? What accomplishments from your past would make us believe you have what it takes? You say your mission is “Restore Wisconsin to Greatness.”  What does this mean?

Your campaign is using the fearmongering and attacks that have become the norm in politics. Our “help is urgently needed” (translation: send money) to protect us from the “dark path” we are heading down and the hatred the opposition has for Donald Trump. You warn us this is a “make-or-break race for Wisconsin’s future.”  Your campaign is guilty of tapping emotions rather than promoting critical thinking, a nationwide problem which has contributed significantly to our social decline. We are in search of leaders who will stick to the issues and provide the substance we need for sound decision making.

Tom, the campaign being executed in your name makes it impossible for the voters to differentiate you from every other run of the mill politician; and we are sick to death of politicians. The fact that the slate of Democratic candidates for Governor contains some of the most extreme liberal ideologues we have ever seen on a ballot may help you in this fight, but it will not provide you cover for things that only you can and must do.

These are things to do differently if you want to win the hearts and minds of conservative voters. Do not allow yourself to be managed by consultants or the elites of the Republican Party. Meet in-person with as many Wisconsin voters, in as many venues as possible, and place no restrictions on the issues you will discuss with us. Listen to us. Tell us how you will address our priorities in specific terms so we can evaluate whether we believe you. We are seeking a Governor who is a leader to believe in and enthusiastically support. I sincerely hope you will be that leader.

Wishing you all the best,

Joan Ellis Beglinger

Conservative Wisconsin Voter
