The words of President James Garfield in his centennial address on July 4, 1876
The People Have Spoken
The election is over and the people have spoken. The election results reframed the fight to take our country back in a way that meets my definition of a near worst case scenario, with the Senate and House majorities going solidly to Democrats at the national level and the Democrats at the Wisconsin State level scoring a trifecta with the Governorship and majorities in the Senate and the Assembly. Across the country, Florida is the only state of the ten largest that remains in Republican control. There are many more enemies of freedom holding positions of power, in my judgment, than there were before last Tuesday’s election.
Americans went to the polls and voted for what they believed would be in their best interests. I will refrain from speculating on what drove their decisions. The voters themselves are the only ones who know their individual motivations, though we are being inundated with endless explanations of why the election went the way it did and what it means for the future from those who profess to know.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis shared his dispassionate and introspective thoughts the morning after the election. Any observer of DeSantis’s approach to governance over the years has seen a leader who remains true to his conservative principles, never loses sight of his responsibility to the people who elected him, is a tremendous communicator and educator – perhaps best illustrated by his hands-on, effective management of his state during its natural disasters, and most importantly, delivers results. His performance as the Governor of Florida for the past 8 years has earned him leadership credibility.
DeSantis called the election results as “as close to an extinction level event for Republicans” as could be imagined. He attributed the Republican success in Florida, which included passing “Amendment 3,” the first step in the elimination of property taxes, to their record of achievement and the earned trust of the people.
He continued: Democrats were able to win off of the sentiment of the country as conservative voters turned their backs on the Republicans they had elected because they did not produce the results they wanted. They wouldn’t even address issues most people agree on like voter ID and Congressional stock trading. He said the result is not a mandate for Democratic “left wing fantasies” and backed it up by pointing out that all across the country voters said yes to conservative referenda that decreased taxes, required voter ID, and insulated the people from Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) discriminatory practices. The Democrats ran on the energy of the Party’s radical left and now, rather than govern, they are in a position to shut down any appointments Trump makes, launch endless investigations and “attempt to throw a lot of sand in the gears” to impede Trump’s ability to govern.
He concluded his remarks with his view that this election was a rejection of Washington Republicans, with the Democrats, who had no positive agenda, merely the beneficiaries. The losses could have been mitigated with better governance.
Was this an essential wake-up call in the fight to reclaim our country?
The Democrats’ lust for power made them receptive to allowing radical extremists, who openly seek to replace our constitutional republic with communism, to infiltrate their Party. Six candidates endorsed by the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) are now headed to Congress. Our utter failure to defeat the Democrats at the ballot box positions them to begin to impose their socialist policies.
Serious threats to freedom remain unchanged by the temporary reshuffling of political power the election brings. The extreme improbability of this sweeping election result cannot be checked because we have unverifiable elections and powerful people are fighting to keep them that way. We have corrupt political parties, career politicians whose primary concern is remaining in office, polls that are used to influence elections, and a dishonest and politically biased media. Together these forces create incredible obstacles to maintaining our freedom that will only be defeated by a massive response from freedom loving Americans.
Will the result of the 2026 midterm elections be the jolt that is needed to mobilize the masses in the fight to reclaim our country?
All Eyes on Wisconsin
Last Tuesday, Wisconsin voters approved two referenda to amend the State’s Constitution. The first prohibits governors from using the partial veto to create or increase taxes or authorize the creation or increase of taxes. This was a response to Governor Evers using his veto to allow 400 years of funding increases in school districts. The second insulates Wisconsin from DEI policies by prohibiting State Government entities and schools from discriminating for any reason when offering contracts and jobs or in any other matters.
The same Wisconsin voters elected David Crowley, Milwaukee County Executive, to the Governorship after Democratic operatives used him to steal the nomination from Francesca Hong, the people’s choice. He has promised to lower everyday costs by targeting housing, utilities, health care, and childcare. He has provided no information about how he will accomplish or pay for these initiatives. Crowley calls himself a champion of abortion rights and refuses to say if he will support abortion with no gestational limits. He says the wealthy must pay higher taxes but refuses to define wealthy or specify the meaning of higher taxes.
The Governor-elect has an abysmal record as the County Executive. Last Thursday his Administration announced a “computer error” caused a $4.56 million budget shortfall in his proposed 2027 budget (conveniently withheld until after the election).
Total mismanagement of Milwaukee’s transit system has resulted in a 14% reduction in bus service since 2025 with another 25% reduction proposed in 2027. These services are vital for the low-income residents whose lives Crowley says he will improve.
Milwaukee County has a structural budget shortfall of $50.8 million projected for 2027 with the projected deficit widening over the next few years to nearly $169 million by 2031.
Crowley will be working with a Democratic majority in the Senate of 18 – 15 and a Democratic majority in the Assembly of 53 – 46, the first total Democratic control in sixteen years. State Democratic leaders were on the record with the media immediately following the election saying they are going to be aggressive with their liberal agenda capping childcare costs, offering universal 4-year-old kindergarten, providing free school meals, repealing Act 10 (which required public employees to contribute to their insurance costs on a level similar to the private sector), enacting gun restrictions, legalizing marijuana, ensuring abortion access, increasing school funding and potentially redrawing Congressional maps.
The new Democratic Secretary of State, JoCasta Zamarripa, campaigned on allowing driver’s licenses for those in Wisconsin illegally as her first priority. Is this what Wisconsinites were voting for? Not the Wisconsin I know.
Incompatible Visions of America
The American people are about to be subjected to serious attempts to suppress our freedom on many fronts – taxation, regulation, deconstructing capitalism, redistribution of wealth, and social manipulation for starters. We are going to clash with those who embrace extreme liberal ideology on many issues because we hold incompatible visions of America.
There is no sugar-coating the November 3 election result. The most influential voices in the Democratic Party are advocating for an America that is on a collision course with freedom, and they are gaining ground. Let this snapshot in time serve to deepen the resolve and sense of urgency in the fight to reclaim our country.
You will be hearing a lot more from me. Our country needs to hear from all of us now.
